Strongly Agree, but the government shouldn't force it upon society.

The State is already forcing the converse upon society, Alcon.

The purpose of the State is to serve the owners and ensure the continuation of their position at the pinnacle of the social heirarchy.  Any attempt to rectify this situation - such as taking away 'their' property - is met with massive and decisive use of force by the State.  No, Alcon, the 'government' always forces the status quo upon society, whatever that status quo may be.

What part of the state structure forces this social structure?

All parts, Alcon.  The police defend the 'property' of the owning classes from the poor, the army defend it from foreigners, etc.

No you poor sap, the State serves the powerful - without its guns the poor would cut the throats of their oppressors.

Nope. Society is the State.. and those that control society and the State are the owners.

You say that, however, like it is a bad thing.  If the poor are able to steal as they please, some poor will succeed and others will not.  For instance, the poor and the sick will fail; this is no less darwinistic than the current system, where at least there is a welfare system meant to assure that no one starves to death.

What does that have to do with what I said?  Do you disagree that those in power gravitate toward keeping their own in power?

Society is not the state.  The state is a facet of society.

Every once in a while, I enjoy pointing out the ridiculousness of his non-sequiturs.

You have failed in this attempt, Alcon.  Your post had nothing to do with my statement that the State creates all social structures, whether that of extreme inequality (capitalism), or relative equality (socialism).  It is quite simply an absurd misunderstanding of society to pretend that the State, as the instrument of Power, does not form the heirarchy and assign to each his role and benefits or miseries.

And where did I say that this is untrue?

I say, "carrots are orange," and you respond, "no, carrots are a vegetable."

Here (among others):

Strongly Agree, but the government shouldn't force it upon society.

You imply that using State power to reduce inequality is in some way a greater or more egregious 'use of force' than the current use of State power to create and maintain inequality.

I vote Strongly Agree.

Are you suggesting that the Kennedy's should not be allowed to pass on their wealth and political power to their descendants?

Why? Opebo pretty much succeeds in making himself a mockery on his own.
