I always hear of it being referred to as the "right" to marry.  I'm not sure if I agree.

Equality is a right, sure.  But is marriage?

No, marriage is a privelige, and requires moral adherence for it to mean something to the people involved.

I'm referring to the government recognizing it.  I can have my dog pronounce that me and my pillow are getting married, but that doesn't make it happen Wink

Is it a right for a man and woman to get married if they wish to?  Yes.

No.  But I don't believe the government should recognize marriages.  That way people can do as they please, and everyone will have access to it, if they want it.

Marriage should be private. THe government wouldn't really give special rights to married couple if we had a flat tax rate
