You are a Peace Patroller, also known as an anti-war liberal or neo-hippie. You believe in putting an end to American imperial conquest, stopping wars that have already been lost, and supporting our troops by bringing them home.

You are a Free Marketeer, also known as a fiscal conservative. You believe in free-market capitalism, tax cuts, and protecting your hard-earned cash from pick-pocketing liberal socialists.

I liked the first one. The options on the conservative one were all horrible (I ended up carving the Koch logo into Mt. Rushmore simply because all the other options were so awful).

You are a Reality-Based Intellectualist, also known as the liberal elite. You are a proud member of what's known as the reality-based community, where science, reason, and non-Jesus-centric thought reign supreme.

I felt like shooting myself with the options on the liberal quiz, lol.

The Direction of the Country Test

World Bazaar

-2 traditional, 6 liberties, 6 capitalist, -4 isolationist and 4 populist!

One world, one love, one great big crazy marketplace of goods, sounds and ideas. You'd like to tear down all the barriers -- to free expression, to free trade, to free movement, to free thought, to free action. Get out there, mix and mingle, sample and taste everything the world has to offer. Have it brought to your doorstep. The wild, glorious anarchy of total globalization.

United States of Nike

0 traditional, 2 liberties, 6 capitalist, -2 isolationist and 0 populist!

Our Market, which art on Wall Street, hallowed be thy name! Thy free-trade zone come, thy will be done, around the globe as it is in America! You'd be perfectly happy to see the entire government privatized, auctioned off to the highest bidder, and your culture exported to the whole world in shiny packaging. Three cheers for freedom -- the freedom to choose a brand, the freedom to express yourself through your purchases, the freedom to Just Do It, the freedom to mute the TV during the information breaks until the commercials come back on!

A more conservative, mainstream version of Goldwater's 'World Bazaar' it seems.

Global Kumbaya

-4 traditional, 8 liberties, -2 capitalist, 0 isolationist and 4 populist!

Where this country went wrong was in thinking we could do anything all by ourselves -- as a nation or as individuals. What we need is a resurgence of the cooperative spirit, of concern for human rights and the well-being of our fellow man, of the heights that a person's potential can reach when it's properly nourished. It's time to combine our energies into a rising tide that lifts all boats, at home and abroad.

Yes, we can!

Your result for The Direction of the Country Test ...
The Shire
8 traditional, 8/10 liberties (waffled), -4 capitalist, 10 isolationist and 10 populist!

In your mind, the hobbits had it right: a quiet, agrarian village life, far from others' messy concerns, where everybody knows your name and nobody makes trouble. Nobody's too rich or too poor; everyone's modestly comfortable, and while folks like their material goods, they spend half their time trying to get rid of the ones they don't want. Security isn't a concern, because you don't bother anyone else, and they don't bother you. The kind of country Thomas Jefferson wanted America to be.

Israel tried this with the kibbutzim and probably would have succeeded if it could have gotten along with its neighbors, or vice versa. The Shire works better when nobody notices that you exist.

Silicon Enclave

-2 traditional, 10 liberties, 4 capitalist, 2 isolationist and 8 populist!

You don't like to be told what to do. In your opinion, the problem with the country is that the government and big business try to control too much -- things they can't control and shouldn't try to. Instead, you'd like to see society run on open-source principles, with free markets, free information and the free exchange of ideas allowed to work their transformative power through human creativity and initiative. Granted, not everyone has the skills and knowledge necessary to reap the full benefits of this freedom. Well, you figure, that's their problem. You'll do fine as long as you surround yourself with folks who are in your techno-literacy league.

This country is such a drag, man. Leaders who think they can tell us what to do, police hassling everybody, the endless chase after material things that can never make you happy. We choose our happiness, dig, and the direction you choose is one of universal freedom, cooperation and human rights. We don't need the Man to tell us what to do. We can just Be. And let the world Be with us. Peace.

State of Nature

4 traditional, 8 liberties, 6 capitalist, 4 isolationist and 10 populist!

State of Nature
You'd prefer that the country return to a state of nature, a wilderness of nomadic hunter–gatherer bands subsisting on what they can . . . er, hunt and gather. Or maybe your ideal is the life of the frontier pioneer, carving out a quiet life on the edge of civilization. Civilization itself, however, is something you clearly have no use for. You'd just as soon it fell down around everybody's ears.

Crazy Heinlein Fantasy World

2 traditional, 8 liberties, 4 capitalist, -4 isolationist and 8 populist!

You've been reading too little news and too much Robert A. Heinlein. There's no real-world model for a society that's stubbornly patriarchal and enthusiastically militaristic, yet lacking in centralized authority and committed to personal freedom and tolerance of nonconformity. Even if such a thing had ever existed, this probably isn't a social order that's going to attract broad popular support -- but you can dream, can't you?

?  I've never heard of this Heinlein fellow.

Sparta!

12 traditional,  -2 liberties,  4 capitalist,  0 isolationist and  2 populist!

This day we rescue a world from mysticism and tyranny and usher in a future brighter than anything we can imagine! Er, well, "tyranny" is a relative term. You can do without the tyranny of kings, the tyranny of dictators, the tyranny of governments. The tyranny of the mob, though -- that's perfectly OK. There's no room in society for wimps, malcontents and non-team-players. Do your patriotic duty, and you'll be looked after. Wuss out, and we'll throw you off that rock.
