I doubt it, their isn't any poll that suggests its that easy for Bush in N>C, also the undecided's tend to break for the Challenger.  Without Edwards 5-7% most likley with Edwards NC is right in the tossup category

Bush won the state by 13% guys.  It's not a "tossup" any more than New Jersey is.

Actually, by your own numbers NC is 3 points more of a tossup than NJ is.

Yes, I wasn't trying to pick two states with equal Gore/Bush victories, merely trying to show how much of a longshot North Carolina is.

Besides, Bush has a higher chance of getting to +16% than Kerry +13%, so they might even out anyway.

North Carolina's costal region has always been more Democratic and probably has shifted more so, Raleigh has also shifted left and you put Edwards on the ticket North Carolina becomes battleground.  Their is no Jersey Republican you cut put on the VP ticket that would make Jersey turn battleground

I'd contend that there is no VP you could put on Kerry's ticket to make North Carolina a battleground.  Edwards will not give Kerry 10% in a state as the VP.

Bush won North Carolina with 56%.  Only the top 5 Gore states reach that amount, so unless you consider Rhode Island, Massachussetts, Maryland or New Jersey to be battlegrounds, it's kind of hypocritical to start playing with North Carolina.

A poll showed Kerry within "striking" distance with Edwards as his VP, but polls have also also shown many times Bush within striking distance in California.

A poll showed Kerry within "striking" distance with Edwards as his VP, but polls have also also shown many times Bush within striking distance in California.

Granted, but ALL NC polls have shown the race quite a bit closer now than what it was in 2000.  Their was one poll that showed Bush very close in Cali, but every other poll showed Bush behind by approx the same amount.
Theur have been a couple Jersey polls showing it quite a bit close, but the majority of the Jersey polls show it somewhere near where it was in 2000.  However NONE of the North Carolina polls show Bush winning by approx the same margin he won in 2000.  Most have it bt about 1/2 of what he won it by, 4 in the latest Rasmussen poll, and the poll with Edwards as the VP shows it a dead heat.
So while their have been other state polls such as Cali & Jersey that have shown Bush was closer in those states than he was in 2000, their were also polls to contradict those tgat sgowed the race in those states closer.  Their hasn't been any polls in North Carolina to contradict the polls that say its closer.

If in 4 years a Kerry/Edwards ticket is running for reelection, NC will go to them.  However in 2000 there is no chance.
