According to legal experts, the main reason for the lack of action taken against the lawyers is a reluctance by judges and state grievance committees to appear "political."  Under ordinary circumstances, this would be understandable.  But these people were trying to destroy democracy--indeed, to destroy the U.S. as we know it.  To not punish them because you don't want to seem partisan is like not prosecuting someone from Saudi Arabia involved in an al-Qaeda plot against the U.S. because you don't want to seem anti-Arab or anti-Muslim.  Not only does the legal profession make itself complicit by its inaction, but it also sends the message that if lawyers want to act similarly in the future--whether on behalf of Trump himself or anyone else--they might as well do so because nothing will happen to them anyway.

This is just sad. If their judges are too scared to raise the issue sua sponte, then their opposing counsels in these cases need to start moving for sanctions (after providing whatever the requisite safe harbor notice is in any given jurisdiction, of course). The worst the courts could say is no, & hell, they might just say yes, but the civic harm is frankly too grave to do otherwise.
