In a shocking upset, Communist Party USA candidate William Foster defeats major party candidates Franklin Roosevelt and Herbert Hoover in 1932 and assumes the presidency.  What happens next?

Scenario 1

In June, 1933, President Foster attempts to declare all other parties besides the Communist Party outlawed, and is impeached and sent to prison.

Vice President James Ford is sworn in as President, and pursues a leftist, though democratic, agenda, until the 1936 election.

In 1936, Franklin D Roosevelt runs a second time, this time winning 46 of the 48 states, with Republican Alf Landon winning the other 2.

The Communist Party, under President James Ford, wins 0.05% of the vote.

Scenario 2

The Foster administration implements sweeping social and economic changes to fight the depression, policies which succeed in moving America towards economic security and prosperity, in eliminating class distinction, and putting the population on an equal footing with one another.

These policies are extremely popular with the working classes, comprising most of the electorate in the 1930's, and Foster is re-elected in 1936, moving America towards a Communist Utopia.
