on another website (www.othertimelines.com.) i am creating a four to five part timeline in which president john f. kennedy escapes assasination in dallas on november 22,1963 and runs for re-election against new york governor nelson a. rockefeller (who didn't marry his partner margaretta in '63). but the kennedy campaign is troubled by the start it is known to the public that he indeed had an affair with a "supposed" east german spy called ellen romesch and his vice president lyndon b. johnson has resigned over the scandal. governor rockefeller easily defeats president kennedy for re-election in 1964. here's the tickets for the major partys from 1964 to 2004. this '*' indicates that they won the election. if this disccusion kicks off i'll add more information as time goes by.

R: Nelson Rockefeller/George Romney *
D: John F. Kennedy/Stuart Symington

1968:

(Rockefeller announced on March 31,1968 that he wasn't going to run for re-election in 1968 due to health problems and also due to his growing un-popularity due to the Vietnam War. V.P. Romney becomes the GOP nominee)

1972:
R: Ronald Reagan/Sprio Agnew *
D: Hubert Humphrey/Edmund Muskie

(V.P. Agnew resigns the Vice Presidency in 1974 due to a corruption scandal while he was Governor of Maryland, he is replaced by House Minority Leader Gerald Ford)

1976:
R: Ronald Reagan/Gerald Ford
D: Robert F. Kennedy/Walter Mondale *

(RFK was elected into the United States Senate in 1966 for Massachussetts)

1980:
R: George H.W. Bush/William V. Roth
D: Robert F. Kennedy/Walter Mondale *

1984:
R: Howard Baker/John B. Anderson *
D: Walter Mondale/Lloyd Bentsen

1988:
R: Howard Baker/John B. Anderson *
