Good Smiley. I hope to see Cardin break 50 fairly soon, which shouldn't be too difficult as long as Steele retains his penchant for "putting his foot in his mouth" Grin

Pretty good but Cardin should be leading by even more then this. We may see a fairly significant crossover vote for Steele since he is pretending to be a moderate to liberal independent lately. We may see a lot of Republicans vote for Cardin too though.

Cardin is the favorite and should win, but if things swing around I wouldn't be suprised to see the talented Michael Steele emerge victorious.

I think thats very unlikely.  Maryland is too Democratic and 2006 is clearly an anti-Republican year.  From this poll we can see that Steele already has the 43% who voted for Bush in 2004 which I suppose is an achievement given national circumstances.  I think Steele's threshold, however, must be around 46% of the vote.  People may flirt with voting for Steele but the Cardin campaign is obviously going to mention his party, his ties to Bush and his controversial statements; Steele is attractive at the moment because Marylanders don't know a great deal about him and he has defined himself well.
