Define "equal work".  If by that you mean doing the same task with equal skill, effort, and responsibility then I'd not only support a boycott, I'd support prosecution under the Equal Pay Act of 1963.  Unfortunately, equal pay advocates often try to merge together different jobs that meet their definition of "equal" to prove their point, and if that's what you mean, then no, I'd not support such a boycott.

I was thinking of your first example, though in the case of your second example I think that different jobs can be merged together to determine how much each should pay based on comparable worth.

Hrm. Well, I suppose if I knew it was the case then yes. But really I'm not sure how I'd know what the employees are being paid in most cases.

no, if a woman doesn't like what she's getting paid she can quit.  If this keeps happening and a company looses half their workforce then it serves them just as bad as boycotting does.

First off, how would you find this out froma reliable source? It's not like they are going to have it posted in the window, and it's not like anyone would take the Daily Kos seriously...so where is this knowledge coming from?

Either way, when I go shopping...90% of the time, It's about me. When I want a Snickers I am not thinking "Hmmm, I should probably go somewhere that pays their employers equally!". The problem with these threads is that they assume that we are as politically active in our day to day lives as we are when particpating on this forum. They could pay their employees. in salmon for all I care and as long as I got what I wanted, It wouldn't bother me.

Good to see you still have a reasonable economic philosophy in that sense, sir.  I am curious as to why the red avatar though...

Three words: Texas Republican Party. My main concerns are state politics, and I would support the Dogmatic Socialistic Libertarian Commie Party of the TexasGOP. It's gotten that bad here.

No, because you don't know anything regarding experience, education, etc...

If it truly was equal work, and the employer discriminated against someone on basis of sex, race, or religion, then I would try to instigate a strike or a lawsuit if I worked there.

Yes, but the reason people with more experience and more education are paid more is presumably because they do either more work or better quality work than those who are less experienceced and less educated (assuming we are comparing two people who work in the same job).
