Let's get this out of the way:

WalterMitty: "This poll is trash - Kerry Healey is going to destroy Deval Patrick. He's way too liberal to get elected Governor of Massachusetts and besides, Healey is unbeatable."

Ok. Now we can move on to intelligent discussion.

True. The Ras and SUSA polls that had him ahead by 33 and 39 are definitely more accurate. Either way, however, this race never was and never will be competitive - just how much Patrick will win by is the only question that makes it interesting.

Sticking by Healey winning simply because we've seen so many Dems in MA flop late.

The difference was that most of those elections were there was a  dem president was in office, there is a republican president with low approvals doesn't bold well for the incumbant party.

True, but it was a republican year, and Bush still had high approvals from 9/11, which means that 2006 is shaping up to be the exact opposite of 2002 if anything.

Healey's probably going to win in the end, and that's too bad.  Patrick's a cool guy.  Maybe he can grab Kerry's senate seat in 2008 that Kerry vacates to become president.

I don't know what's more absurd here, the suggestion that Healey will win, or the suggestion that Kerry will be elected President in 2008. Smiley

Though you may have meant simply that Kerry will run for the nomination and thus not run for reelection, but in any event, the idea that Patrick will lose is quite laughable at this point. Sam Spade has moved this race to Safe Democrat now; I'm shocked as partisan of a Dem as yourself would be saying we'll lose this one. Smiley
