1932: FDR
1936: FDR
1940: FDR
1944: FDR
1948: Truman
1952: Stevenson (I'm not sure)
1956: Eisenhower
1960: Kennedy
1964: Johnson, of course. I think with Goldwater there would have been new Civil War in South (Blacks vs. Government) And possibly nuclear war in Vietnam/World wide (He said that he would be willing to use nukes in Vietnam)
1968: Humphrey
1972: McGovern
1976: Carter
1980: Carter or Anderson
1984: Mondale or maybe sit out
1988: Dukakis
1992: Clinton
1996: Clinton
2000: Gore
2004: Kerry
2008: Kerry
2012: Edwards
2016: Edwards
2020: Nym90
2024: Nym90

But. As I have already said: If I had grown up in USA, I  possibly would be Republican.

no Anderson in 1980 or LaFollette in 1924 either Sad

Why is Lincoln a 3rd party candidate?

Well, he was kind of a third party at the time, neither a Democrat nor a Whig.  I just didn't want to admit I'd vote for a Republican. Smiley

Well I might have felt that we could have gotten involved earlier and without a doubt I would have been concerned about a person haveing more then 2 terms as President.

But weren't the Republicans at the time more isolationist? I know the American senate stopped Jewish children from entering the US during the 30s.

Yes, that is true... But I must revert back to my stance that it would have worried me to see someone get more then 2 terms as president

No, not the wave of the future, the wave of the past.
My dad was born in Lewiston and my grandfather in Kendrick (it's up the Clearwater river) and they have told me that Nez Perce county was traditionally democratic.

Not anymore!

I'm from Lewiston, so I can tell you that I think that the Democrats are coming back.  In 2002 the Ds won all but one of the local races and voted for al lthe statewide D candidates but two.

And up here in Moscow (home of the University of Idaho where I am a student) there is a substantial Democratic population and the Republicans are moderate if not liberal.

And Boise just elected a Democratic mayor last year.

What does that mean?  Probably nothing, but I can get my hopes up, can't I? Smiley

Idaho was strongly Democratic until TR won it in 1904. It still voted Dem in 1912 and 1916, and then followed the rest of the country in voting Dem during the period 1932-1948. But the last time it voted Dem was 1964, and then only very narrowly.

He also supported Democrat Winfield Scott Hancock in 1880, who was attacking Rep. James A Garfield for being opposed to the Chinese Exclusion Act. In other words, he would have voted for a man who wanted to deport him!
