clinton picks tom harkin as his running mate in 1992.  the clinton/harkin administration serves two relatively successful terms with a booming economy.

in 2000, tom harkin easily dispatches former nj senator bill bradley to win the democrat nomination.  he chooses moderate connecticut senator joe lieberman has his running mate.

how does the 2000 race shape up between:

tom harkin/joe lieberman (d)

vs.

george w. bush/dick cheney (r)

naso it is harkin/lieberman, not harkin/bradley.

and i think harkin would have done better in the middle west and in the union states than gore did.

Harkin was also too smart to seperate himself from Clinton, unlike Gore.

With that extra "Rub", it would've put Harkin over, and he likely would've won... I also don't see him coming across in the debates with Bush with that famous sigh.

No changes at all, although a slightly higher Bush win in Florida, maybe by over a thousand votes. Harkin still wins popular vote.

Missouri would also be closer, but Nader would ultimately give it to Bush.

I think Harkin would have been able to take Missouri or Ohio.
