Interesting, the first seven posters had a dad who was older than their mom. I know that men marry later than women, but I was surprised that the breakdown here was that large.

My mom was 28... I'm not sure how old my real father or step father were in 1988.

They certainly are. Together they have three kids: me (almost 24), my brother (almost 21), and my sister (18). This is my dad's second marriage, so I also have two older half brothers, ages almost 44 and 39.

Most interestingly, my oldest half brother is actually older than my mother by about 4 months.

Dad-37 Mom-30.  One interesting thing is my mom, aunt (dad's sister) and another Aunt (mom's brother's wife) are all within 5 months of each other (  Aunts were born in June & July, mom in Nov of 51.

I understand how that works. I have an older half-sister who is a great-grandmother. BTW, my dad is still living, so he counts as a great-great-grandfather.
