the canadians...ugh.  no offense to any canadian on the board, but theyve always struck me as know-it-alls.  the time i was accosted at the border like a common terrorist didnt help my opinion any.  but, in fairness, that was quebec.

If you're going to judge all Canadians based on Quebec, then I'm going to judge all Americans based on Utah.

It is hard for Americans to think of Canadians as "foreigners," IMO.

Why? The fact that Americans seldomly know anything about Canada is a sign to me that it is pretty foreign.

By that measure, America is also foreign.

they should be overwhelmed that after all this we would even allow them to exist as a continent.

Canada is a continent?

I thank the United States for this new heightened designation.

I'll take my gratitude in cash.  PM me for info on where to send the money.

I've already left it in a brown paper bag in the usual place.

Excuse...exist on the same continent with the United States

If the United States decided that it didn't want to allow Canada to exist, exactly what do you think the international reaction to that would be?  The United States is not an island that can exist independently of any other country.

What are they going to do...come dashing for Canada's aid?

They could always step up trade with each other and stop trading with the United States.  Somehow I think American citizens would be slightly displeased if all of a sudden they didn't have products made in China, Malaysia, Taiwan, etc.

Have you ever been outside America?  Because I always find that the only people who believe that America "allows" other nations to exist are the same people who probably couldn't even identify most nations on a map, let alone understand the interactions between said nations and America.

yes since most of our "products" are made from Canada...its called outsourcing and China

And why would China and other nations keep trading with America if they invaded an allied democratic nation?  You seem to assume that no one would bat an eyelash at America invading Canada.

before i say anything..i really hope you dont think US is going to really invade Canada and lastly sure we use Canada's natural resources with gratitude

No... I'm replying to your suggestion that America "allows Canada to exist", as if to say that one day it might decide that it doesn't like Canada's presence and invade it.

Fortunately, the leadership in America doesn't feel the same way.
