What the hell is this place like?

It actually contains a precinct where Kerry received 0 votes. 70 for Bush, 1 for Nader, 1 for Peroutka.

muon is right.  Garfield County pretty much epitomises everything that makes Montana a Republican state, with nothing that makes it Democratic.

Garfield County went for Baucus in 2002.

Precinct 7 (mentioned in the first post) went for Taylor, 28-25, over Baucus, while also giving a huge victory to Rehberg.

In 2002, Rehberg won 55-1 in that precinct with 2 votes for the Libertarian.

This is one of those counties that's been having a huge population decline for decades. Stupid kids, why can't you stay and farm? Wink

Wonder why Garfield is so mind-numbingly Republican? The website was noticably silent about the Freemen:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montana_Freemen

Are any of these desolate Western Counties (others are Arthur, NE (pop. 444) and Slope, ND (760) (Not to mention the infamous Loving, TX (67) ever going to dis-incorporate?
