McCain's position on the War is just not going to serve him in 2008 unless Iraq stops being such a mess.  There is no indication that it will be.  He could very well win, but with over 300 EVs?  I doubt it.

What if Iraq continues to be a mess, but the US decreases its involvement there?  Suppose Bush withdraws about half our troops, and relegates our involvement to a support role, putting the Iraqi troops (whether they're ready or no) in the lead.  The Iraqi body count goes even higher, but the rate of American casualties goes way down.  Would Iraq still be too much of an albatross for the GOP nominee?

As long as McCain is advocating an increase in troops levels he's doomed.

John McCain / Mike Huckabee vs. Hillary Clinton / Tom Vilsack

7:00 this:

8:00 this:

9:00 this:

10:00 this:

11:00 this

Midnight:

Wisconsin is the key state, which gives McCain victory over Clinton

The end result:

McCain wins comfortably, but not overwhelmingly as everyone expects. Minnesota is decided the next evening. Margin is 0.5%

310-228, a reasonable margin considering it is Hillary Clinton

I know Hillary is far from the anti-war left's ideal candidate but there is no way in hell that John "increase US troops levels" McCain is going to win in the Northeast or Midwest after what we saw in 2006.  Especially not in New Hampshire.  Whichever candidate is the most anti-war will win.  John McCain's current position is the opposite of anti-war.

Connecticut Polls close at 8:00 PM. I know this because I worked at them in 2004, 2005 and 2006. (2005 was a local election).
