Here is the idea... I will be using the entire North American map... the map will be subdivided either by states of by regions... I haven't quite decided yet... regions would be more interesting, but I think states would be easier.

Anyway, it will be like Risk in its basic ideas... the difference is it will play more like Axis and Allies.  Each territory will be worth something based on a balance of the wealth of that region, and its productivity. For instance, Birmingham is not very wealthy, but it is a major industrial center, so it would be worth 10 points, while Southern Florida has a lot of wealth, but little industrial might, so would be worth, say, 8 points... Wyoming, on the other hand, has neither, and thus would be worth say... 5 points, given a slight boost, because it is a cattle producing region. I would work out a formula on what is worth what, based on about 8 resources (which would be something like: manufacturing, raw materials, dense population, wealth, agriculture and so on).

There would be different units, though they would be basic... ie infantry, armor, aircraft... perhaps fleets, if you would want to do that.

Terrian would also count... mountains reduce the effectiveness of armor and increase that of infantry, whiel to opposite is true of flat plains.  Attacking accross, say the Rio Grande would cost -1 to the attacker, while attacking accross, say the Cumberland would be -2 and attacking accross the Ohio -3... while attacking accross the lower Mississippi would be -4.

Anyone interested in the concept?

Sounds rather complicated, but if you can put it together, I'd be interested.

I would find a way to make it as simple as possible.  I woudl like someone to help me with it, though, if anyone is interested in helping out.
