Surprisingly I don't think this has ever been mentioned here. Maybe it has, but I just didn't notice.

The Blaine Amendment was a proposed constitutional amendment over 100 years ago that would have barred states from giving the taxpayers' money to religious-affiliated schools. I think it came kind of close to passing, and I know the House approved it overpoweringly (it was something like 180 to 7).

Most states did pass their own version of this law, but there's still a few holdouts.

After the Supreme Court made a really bad ruling favoring vouchers a few years ago, I think we need to bring back the effort to pass the Blaine Amendment. I don't know how much good this will do, because many of the states that have such a law completely ignore it (Kentucky included).
