Not neccesarily a good move. The Republicans would try to put up votes on wedge issues against Bowles.

Why? A Democrat would have the seat either way. It would hurt Bowles, anyway.

Kerry should resign instead of Edwards. Edwards at least took time out of his Presidential campaign to vote in most of the 2004 Senate votes which is what he was elected to do.

If Bowles and Kerry/Edwards both win in November I could see Edwards resigning his seat so that Bowles can get an early start, but otherwise there will not be a resignation .

Kerry/edwards won't win and same with Bowles...

Kerry/edwards won't win and same with Bowles...
Kerry/Edwards won't take NC, but a Kerry/Edwards overall win and a Bowles win in NC are possible, altho the former is more likely than the latter.
