Taking a look at the Elections canada site, I norticed that there is a newly registered party, the Prograssive Canadian party which judging  from its website http://www.pcparty.org/ appears to be an attempt to resurrect the Progressive Conservative party.  So is this having any luck, or is this a bit of protest over the CPC merger that will fade away?

If Canada had preference voting, I probably would have voted for this party first.  Of course, if Canada had preference voting, the glorious PC Party would not have fallen.

I doubt it will be successful.  If Joe Clark or some prominent leader had organized it, it could have had a shot at being the Green Party of the right and maybe even picking up a seat.  Had Scott Brison or that guy from Quebec whose name I can't remember joined the cause it would have done better.  But I think this effort is just too small and not well-connected enough.

I hope they do well actually. The new CPC is really just the Alliance.

More like the Mulroney-era PC's minus the Red Tories... and the Quebec Seperatists...

Hmm, doesn't that just leave the Alliance? Most of the Red Tories defected or went to the Progressives? In any case I can't imagine the CPC winning power, they'll never capture enough votes in Ontario or Quebec. They need to move back to the centre.

I hope they split too!  Without the merger there would have easily been a liberal majority.
