The other thread about assassination got me thinking...

Had Lincoln lived, would his treatment of First Americans been appreciably different from that of his successors?

The Sioux uprising of 1862 provides little insight.  Yes, Lincoln pardoned a number of Sioux condemned to the gallows.  But he also permitted the hanging of many others.

Thoughts?  Ideas?
