There's an interesting article in The Politico on the support for Fred Thompson on Capitol Hill:
linkThere are several quotes from Zach Wamp, who is leading the "Draft Thompson" effort in the House. There's mention of the fact that Thompson is planning a visit to Capitol Hill on April 18th, to meet with lawmakers and gauge how much support he has there.
There's also this: "Confirming what Politico has been told by other sources, Wamp said Thompson will probably make a final decision in May."
That's consistent with what was reported several weeks ago, but Thompson seemed to knock down the idea of a May decision when he was interviewed on Fox News Sunday. At that time, he said that he had no specific timeline in mind for a decision. But maybe there's something to it after all, and Thompson was just being coy?
