Sometime between 1867 and 1881.

Yeah, obviously this is not my branch of the family.

No idea, although I do have relatives there. I know when other (closer) relatives moved to Tasmania and Saskatchewan though...

If you replace "America" with "Britain", the last would have got here in the 19th century (though I'm not sure where from).

My dad came in Canada in 1976, my mom was born here (and her family came here from the time of New France in the 1700s) from the same city as my dad's family- Saint Malo, Ille-et-Vilaine.

Some of my family were deposited in the States in the 1950's Smiley Now well settled in San Diego.

As for Scotland, my fathers side have been in Scotland since, well forever really. Our surname first crops up in the 1100's. My mothers fathers side settled in Scotland from ireland in the 1840's and my mothers mothers side came in from France in about the 1880's I think.

My mother's maternal side of the family has been traced in America since the 1630's.

I think everyone else has lived in the US, at least, since the turn of the 20th century.

On my mother's side they came over in the mid 19th century.

On my father's side it gets more complicated.  Some came over as early the 1630's to New England, but moved to Canada as a result of the Tax Revolt of the 1770's.  Later moved back into the States in the 1880's and 1890's when they headed west to Michigan (Upper part of the Lower Peninsula.)

Well, one of my ancestors came over on the Mayflower (William Brewster).

But the rest came over later

I don't really know. The earliest I know of is like around the 1850s.

For the little German and Welsh in me I have no clue, but I know it was pre-American Revolution.  For the Irish Catholic it would mostly be Potato Famine (1845-1850) with a few trickles thereafter until 1892 at the latest.

My Grandmothers came over in the 1950s. My Grandfathers are American born but their parents were from Italy. I'm guessing the very latest both my Grandfathers' respective families could have arrived here would be the 1920s.

I guess now that I have a bit more time I can give a more detailed account.

- The first of my ancestors to make the trek were the Rumley's.  We aren't quite sure if they were French or English.  They were Episcapalians by the 1800's, but that doesn't mean anything.  Could be that there just wasn't a Catholic Church around, so they went with the next closest thing.  They were navy people... then Pirates/Privateers.  They somehow found their way to Virginia/North Carolina by the middle of the 1600's.

- Next of the list were the Solt's (without the "u") back then.  They came towards the end of the 17th century.  They were from the Southern Germany.  They may, or may not have stopped off in England for a bit on their way over.  They eventually landed in Philadelphia, though they might have acctually have predated the city, and have been part of the Dutch colony.

- Huber/Hoover were the next ones to show up.  They arrived the same time as Herbert Hoover's ancestors, and in the same place from the same place, so there is a strong reason to believe there is a distant relationship.

- The Blunt's (Blount) came after that.  They arrived in the Carolinas in the 1720's, I believe.  It is through them that I am related to many simi-significant figures, including a signer of the Constitution and the governor of Missouri.

- The Spencers came next.  Nothing special about them.  They arrived in the 1740's in Philly.

- Then my Scottish relatives arrived in Philly.  For some odd reason, the last name isn't occuring to me right now.  The was during/just after the French and Indian War.  The most significant thing I can think about them is that they explain why everyone in my family is so damn hairy.

Fast forward about 80 years:

-In 1830's, my first Irish relatives arrived in America.  The McManus' were the first ones to show up.  My great (6) Grandfather was a man of some notoriety in his day.  Patricius McManus was an architect who build several structures around Camden and Philadelphia, particularly bridges.

-The last to arrive were the Kelley's.  They can over in the 1840's.

Now, those are all people on my mother's side.

My real father was a Hummel.  All I know about his family is that his great-grandmother was my grandmothers nanny, and she spoke with a heavy accent... her name was Eva... so she must have immigrated over after WWI.

My step-dads grandmother, whos name was Manco, was acctually born in Italy... she was a baby when they came over... so around 1910ish.

His great-grand father lived in what is now northern Italy, but was Austria before the war.  He was originally from the same hometown as Arnold Schwarzenegger, but we have no idea if there is any direct relationship.
