My county, Somerset, has the lowest in the country for a county with a population of over 250,000.
You should have broke it down further, into more than three classes. NJ has some great numbers here. I think the highest was 15.6%? Am I correct?

Here's New York (data from the US Census Bureau Small Area Income & Poverty Estimates, 2004):

The state average is 14.5%. The richest county is Putnam (4.5%), and the poorest is the Bronx (28.2%).

Staten island should be yellow 10.0%

At least thereīs 1 green spot, DeSoto County, a fast growing, demographically young county in the Memphis area.

Check out Minnesota:

Poverty in Mankato is still 19% though.

Yepp. Very nice, MN also has the 2nd lowest number of uninsured in the US and the 3rd lowest number of people in poverty. A model for the US Wink

In Minnesota, 7.5% of residents live below the poverty line, 2nd only to New Hampshire, which has an impressive rate of 5.6%.

Minnesota has the lowest percentage of uninsured in the nation, at 8.4%, as of 2005.  During the 2007 session of the state legislature, Democrats successfully pushed through funding to get 30,000 children onto state subsidized healthcare programs with hopes for eventual universal coverage for children.

I ainīt rich.

And yeah, I always try to throw in a state once in a while, so that a bored forum member on here creates a map of this state, then when all 50 states are mapped, a map of the whole US can be created, which then turns out that it already exists on a page on the internet made years before ... Tongue

You know, some of us aren't really that "rich" and already know plenty of people who live in poverty.  Tongue

I'm sure as hell not rich and I was pointed out earlier, live in a city with a 19% poverty rate.

A college city with a 19% poverty rate isn't really that impressive.  Most of those people have safety nets.  My city has a 16% poverty rate (not all that high, but still troubled), and virtually none of that is ramen poverty.
