My choice would be William McRaven, and I don't know much about him except that he seems to be a man of strong military expertise and seems like a very decent man.  I feel he would also be a reasonable person in domestic policy.  He may not really energize any bases or excite partisans and ideologues which would be another reason why I'd choose him.  (I also like his last name, "McRaven Administration" has a nice ring to it.)

What would your choice be?  It can be anybody you want.

Scott Aitchison, who ran for the Conservative leadership race in Canada in 2022 but lost.

He promised a YIMBY housing platform to incentivize municipalities to deregulate zoning and allow housing to be built, he promised to balance the budget, was very strong on foreign policy in terms of supporting Canada's allies, such as his support of Ukraine and even to the point of being in favour of Canada recognizing Taiwan. He wanted more market competition in some sectors. Overall, a decent candidate.

All other answers are incorrect.

Don't know.
Maybe Ollanta, but I don't think he can rebuild his party, even less win again.
No idea on who will actually run. There is a long way to 2026.

For France definitely Benoît Hamon, if he's still interested. Obviously won't run, though.

For Italy, Elly Schlein I guess? She's not perfect but definitely better than what we've seen from PD in a while.

Penny Wong. She's intelligent, articulate, and pretty much exactly right on most policies.

Plus having an Asian-born gay Prime Minister would make Trump's head explode at G20 meetings.

Nicola Zingaretti (he won't "run" either but that's not relevant here).

For my country, honestly and unfortunately, I don't see anybody up for the job. Our political class is currently a walking car crash of a trainwreck.

Gavin Newsom, 47th Prez

I always liked him because he has charisma, is a coastal liberal and has imho the right kind of experience to lead this country.

Elizabeth Warren. She won't become President without an act of god because she's too smart for half of America and too cringe for the other half. I'm right in the middle.

Jon Huntsman, Jr. Though honestly, McRaven would be a great choice.

While my trans gamer populist progressive left self would like Zooey Zephyr, I think I'm gonna have to go with Becca Balint. I don't know, I just feel like she's more up to the task right now, y'know? But when Becca's terms are up, you just know I'm picking Zephyr to replace her.

John Mulaney has a great joke about how his parents went to college with Bill Clinton at Georgetown, so they received an invitation for a fundraiser of his while he was running for President in '92. He says it must have felt weird for them to watch one of their peers become the President and he picks on a guy named in the audience whose name is Sam, and says "it would be like watching Sam become the President."

This post reminded me of that joke.

If I can choose even a dead person, I'd choose Hugo Black. He was far more objective in interpreting the Constitution than anyone else, perhaps in the Court's entire history. I would want him to choose whom to appoint to new vacancies on the Court, because he would try to find people who interpreted the Constitution as objectively as he did.
