So.. can or can I not bring Cocktail straws onto Airplanes going to the states now? I understand the concern but those terrorists are imaginative...

And again at times like this I really HATE the world. I feel like that guy in the distance softly murmuring "Can't we all just get along?"

lol.

Naso should wise up before he gets into big-boy conversations. Oh, and...

Ignore this post Naso, I dare you...

The UK has different laws about holding people before they have to be charged which actually makes it easier to hold people and do a better investigation which helps against fighting terrorists.

Yep, even more airport security...that's just what America needs.

I flew to Fort Lauderdale from Cleveland last month, and I found it to be much easier than I was expecting. Take off your shoes, put them and any objects into the bin...walk through...grab your shoes and objects...and be on your way. It probably took me 1 min 30 sec at most.

Institute racial profiling if you want real airport security. Picking on old people and children (except muslim children) is no real answer.

Security level raised to critical, meaning an attack is imminent, not sure if it means another is coming, or if this one has sparked the move.

Scary stuff, still wondering myself why Glasgow was the pick, looks like it could be a distraction for another attack in Scotland?

I think the worry is that there could be a more serious attack anywhere in the UK. If it happens, it will likely be around an area where people 'enjoy' themselves. The London devices were close to a nightclub, in an area of nightlife and on the route of todays' Pride parade. At Glasgow, it was the first Saturday after the schools broke up for summer and the airport was packed with those going on holiday.

If Glasgow is the target, then fair enough. It's not going to stop me going in to the city tomorrow.

That the ones responsible for the botched attack in London are (presumably) still at-large is probably the main worry.

The latter, combined with the attempted attacks in London. Security level (presumably) won't drop until authorities have found some people that they're looking for (that's the way they usually do these things).

Naso, keep up the good fight buddy. You're on the right track.

The good fight is sticking your head in the sand and ignoring absolutely everything that is not in accordance to your predetermined view of the world?

Why are you bringing up a man with possible Al Qaeda connections?

Riyadh airport security sucks. They rather check women in a special room than open luggage. They don't really make it much of an hassle.

Uh... you brought up racial profiling.  What race was McVeigh again?

We were talking about airports, McVeigh did not go through an airport to commit his crime. So, try again please.

Do the so-called 'high risk' racial groups need airports to commit their crimes?  And what would you be saying if McVeigh had decided to target a major airport instead of a government building?

No, they don't but racial profiling on a whole would definitely be helpful in other areas that are known terrorist targets. As for your second question, I don't play the 'what if' game in that area. Plus, McVeigh (backed by Al Qaeda) committed his crime way back in 92, when the terrorist threat was not viewed to be as tremendous as it is now.

The Oklahoma City bombing was in 1995, not 1992.

I notice you're still touting that link between McVeigh and al-Qaeda.  You've suggested it here multiple times before, and are yet to back it up with any kind of credible evidence whatsoever.

Al-Qaeda was not mentioned at any point during McVeigh's trial. Seems like quite a big oversight.

...

I'll have to assume that you *still* haven't found any evidence then, States.  In future, make sure not to spout such nonsense unless you can back it up, okay?

I always thought the supposed connections were between McVeigh and Iraq, not McVeigh and Al-Qaeda.

I do have to say that I sort of find it funny that someone who always asks people "Proof?" when they make a statement about some political figure is dead-set on believing something that has even less proof behind it.

Oh I read it, I just don't want to bother to dig it up for you. If you want to look it up do so if you'd like. And yes, I'll keep saying it, so there.
