So far this is only being reported by the Daily Mail, so I'd like to see it confirmed by a more reputable outlet, but their story is that Rep. Rich McCormick (who happens to be my representative in GA-6) has filed for divorce from his wife, with Rep. Beth Van Duyne named in the story.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13426423/rep-rich-mccormick-files-divorce-wife-debra-miller.html

After 12 years of marriage and less than two years into his congressional career,  Georgia Republican Rep. Rich McCormick has filed for divorce from his oncologist wife Dr. Debra Miller.

The case was filed by McCormick on May 3. A mutual restraining order was also filed, DailyMail.com exclusively reports.

McCormick and Miller, his second wife, share seven children and live in Suwanee, Georgia. When approached about the reasoning for the divorce, Miller texted DailyMail.com: 'I'm sure that he will not be forthcoming.'

Capitol Hill insiders say McCormick has often been seen acting overly friendly toward a female Republican member of the House Beth Van Duyne, R-Texas.

ruh roh

And Ga 6 could be more competitive in a couple cycles, so let's hope for his sake that this doesn't become a bigger scandal

Yikes!

How competitive could the 6th district be if McCormick was really dragged down by a scandal?

Van Duyne has quite the issue with being involved in drama. Her former staffer killed himself outside of her house. Whether or not that incident had to do with an affair I don't know, but offing yourself in front of someone's house is extremely personal.

Divorce is always messy, even more so when one or both of the people involved are public figures. I feel bad for the 7 kids.

Reps who are only in congress because of gerrymandering are made for each other, apparently.

Don't forget Georgia redistricted this year.  He'll be running (and I guess is technically the incumbent) in the new 7th, which is much more Republican than the previous 6th.  I can't see it becoming competitive unless the scandal gets much much worse than it appears now.

Could've known this 6 months ago if not for reporters being more interested in covering George Santos' lying & criming 😩

I mean, her district is clearly gerrymandered to swipe right. Look at those curves!

Certainly not condoning his behavior, but he definitely could have done much worse as far as members of Congress are concerned...

Even the Clintons have been married for nearly 50 years. Despite all the turmoil.

There is infidelity involved, so it’s everyone’s business.

It's unfortunate Congress has the moral conduct of a frat house.

This behavior stems from the increasingly part-time nature of Congress, and especially the House.  It is now quite unusual for members to move themselves/their families to D.C. full-time.  Being away from your spouse + the ego trip that comes from serving in Congress can make an affair seem like a good idea.

This.  People can judge the sh**ttiness of breaking up a family of seven kids, but ultimately it's none of anyone's business except theirs.

Plus, the Republican Party already officially surrendered its title as the party of family values back in 2016, so the hypocrisy angle doesn't really work anymore either.

If you think congresscritters weren't sleeping around back when their families were living nearby, I have news for you.

(That said, I agree with your sentiment that we should return to the culture of representatives' families living close to DC mostly full-time.  It helped build a sense of camaraderie and friendship between colleagues on their days off, who nowadays don't interact at all except to throw insults at each other on social media.)
