A solid win for Clinton and Gore.  I do not believe that the south would go Republican with southern Clinton running against the midwestern moderate Thompson.

Tennessee goes to Thompson and Alexander, on the strength of Alexander's stature in Tennessee.  Gore is seen more and more as a Washington insider, alienated from Tennessee.  The voters have a choice between two Vice Presidential nominees from their home state, and they go with Alexander.

Alexander helps in taking Kentucky and Virginia as well.

Clinton/Gore                  372
Thompson/Alexander     166
