This is mostly just me getting over excited about the new ARG poll out of Arizona which has Richardson at 9% and Edwards at 8%.  I don't really think Edwards is even considering leaving given his Iowa numbers.  I'm just curious as to whom would benefit most if he were to suddenly withdraw from the race.

Kind of hard to say who would really benefit in the long run.. but I'd guess Obama.

Based on the issues they're flacking right now, none of other candidates is in a position to gain most of Edward's supporters.  Obama and Dodd are probably best positioned, and given their relative standing in the polls, Obama will get most of that.  Still, Dodd could get enough to move out of the bottom-tier to join Richardson in the middle-tier.

I think Senator Obama would get most of the Edwards fallout.

Gore. With a fellow "truth talking" populist getting out, it could give Gore an excuse to "change his mind" and get in. That said, Obama- any anti-Hillary supprt would clearly go to him. It would be even more of a two way race.

Edwards isn't going to drop out anytime soon. He's leading in Iowa right now. If he wins it, he has a real shot at the nomination.

He would be a stupid pick for the nomination.  Barack Obama is more likely to win North Carolina than Edwards is.

Edwards is starting to scare me a little with his populist rhetoric... a bit Huey Long for me... but some people like it... while I don't love Obama at least he isn't trying to pull half the stuff Edwards is.....

Obama would gain most of Edwards supporters, and probably would be in a better position to win the Democratic Nomination.

Which is what I said above.  Reading the original message usually helps in cases like these. Wink

2003, voted in favor for the Iraq war.

2004, contribuited absoluetly nothing to the Kerry campaign.

2007, $1000 haircuts while being a champion of the "poor" (try hard not to laugh)

John Edwards: a lifetime of failure.
