For those who are unaware, this was in 1972.

She wasn't. Ballot irregularities caused thousands of voters in two counties to cast ballots for both the Socialist Workers and major party candidates. The courts ruled both votes to count as valid.

Since I first heard about this, I always thought this could've been used as precedent to count the butterfly ballot votes as votes for Gore in Florida in 2000.
