You sound like John McCain before he caught rabies. Interesting. You look like a hardliner and sound like a reactionary...but you are really just a moderate conservative.

Abortion
Requiring parental notification for women under 18 seeking abortions: I'm not comfortable with the idea for one or two reasons... though I'm also not comfortable with the idea that having an abortion is somehow less serious than taking aspirin. Ah... the silly little hypocrisies that this issue seems to generate...
Requiring parental consent for women under 18 seeking abortions: see above
Banning interstate travel of women under 18 attempting to obtain abortions: seems a little pointless
Requiring spousal notification for married women seeking abortions: any marriage in which this is likely to be an issue is dead anyway.
Requiring spousal consent for married women seeking abortions: see above
Requiring a woman to have an ultrasound before obtaining an abortion: not sure. Should be some form of counselling though.
Requiring clinics to notify women of a hypothesis linking abortion with breast cancer: not familier with the hypothesis, so no idea.
Banning the sale of metal coathangers: don't be silly
Prohibiting public funding of abortions: depends doesn't it? Commercial ventures into this area certainly shouldn't get any public money though.
Reimbursing the cost of abortion under your favored health care system: dependeth
Banning dilation & extraction ("partial-birth abortion"): of course. But there should be no need of actually legislation as any responsible professional organisation would have (effectively) banned it anyway...
a.) Life of the mother exemption? no, because it's never medically necessary.
b.) Health of the mother exemption? see above
c.) Life of the fetus exemption? see above
d.) Health of the fetus exemption (i.e. birth defects)? see above
Banning late-term abortions: yes
a.) Life of the mother exemption? of course
b.) Health of the mother exemption? only if serious
c.) Life of the fetus exemption? obvious really...
d.) Health of the fetus exemption (i.e. birth defects)? no
e.) Rape exemption? yes, but I would rather it not strictly speaking be written like that. Include it under the health exception or something (just not comfortable with the idea, even at a technical level, of something that looks a little like the death penalty by proxy).
Legalizing the 'morning-after pill' (emergency contraception): yes
a.) Requiring a prescription? guess not
b.) Requiring parental consent for women under 18? no
Requiring abortion clinics to offer fetal anesthesia to women obtaining abortions: don't be silly
Mandatory waiting periods for women obtaining abortions: '' ''
Mandatory pro-life counseling for women obtaining abortions: sort of, yes.
Funding for pro-life "crisis pregnancy centers": see above.

Adoption:
Allowing same-sex couples to adopt children: yes
Allowing single parents to adopt children: guess so
Allowing bisexuals or homosexuals to serve as foster parents: yes
Government reimbursement of all adoption fees: no

Affirmative Action:
Allowing affirmative action on the basis of race: maybe in some circumstances
Allowing affirmative action on the basis of socioeconomic status: yes
Banning affirmative action for all universities which receive public funding: no

Criminals' Rights:
Capital punishment: never
     a.) For treason?
     b.) For murder?
     c.) For terrorism?
     d.) For rape?
     e.) For kidnapping?
Requiring sex offenders to have special license plates: no. Over here that would result in lynchings.
Requiring public notification of rehabilitated sex offenders living in communities: no
Banning prisoners from voting: yes
Banning ex-felons from voting: no

Immigration:
Criminalizing tipping off Mexicans about the Minuteman Project: no
Requiring hospitals providing medical care to illegal aliens to report them to the government: no
Denying medical care to illegal aliens: no
Applying civil liberties and anti-torture laws to non-immigrants:
Guest worker program: better than some alternatives I guess
Granting amnesty to illegal aliens: yes
Building a fence/wall across the Mexican border: no
Allowing illegal aliens access to social services, including public education: sure
Including immigrants in your health care plan: of course

Reimbursing the cost of abortion under your favored health care system: If it was a health risk to the mother than I think it should be reimbursed. Otherwise I think it would fall under the catagory of elective surgery.
Banning dilation & extraction ("partial-birth abortion"): No

Funding for pro-life "crisis pregnancy centers": Well it depends; they shouldn't cast judgement upon those who want abortions but should be allowed to inform pregnant women of other options besides abortion. I'm leaning no though for federal funding especially and no funding at all if it is religiously based or uses religious materials to try and sway pregnant women away from abortion.

Wow, Colin, are answers are almost identical Tongue

Btw, Carleton College, Carleton College, Carleton College.  I swear I've said you'll be going to Macalaster about 982734987 times.  Carleton does host a nice high school quiz bowl tournament every year, you'll have to show up Wink

I'm for keeping abortion legal in all cases, but I guess if I worked in a clinic I wouldn't want to be sued, so I'd be for getting minors to have signed documentation from a guardian for any procedure, whether it was a nose job, abortion, or wart removal.

I think same-sex couples, if married, should probably be subject to the same adoption restrictions as heterosexual married couples.  I'm also for allowing same sex marriages.

I'm against all forms of race-based hiring.  And based on what I understand about it, I'm against affirmative action.

I'm against capital punishment in all cases.  I'm against parole as well.  You either set 'em free or you don't.  If you set them free, then it's wrong to keep them from voting or holding office or to make them report to somebody.  I also oppose "sex offender registration."  That's like tattooing a "kick me" sign to someone's forehead.  It's cruel.  No matter the crime, either they have rehabilitated, in which case they should be released, or they haven't, in which case they should stay in jail for everyone else's good.  I'm also sort of against prison rape, and I feel sorry for those who are subjected to it, but I'm not sure what we can do about it.

I'm for open borders.  I'm against the fence.  I'm against federally-mandated minimum wages, and I don't really have a problem with unskilled people working dirt cheap for rich people.  I don't consider it a threat.  I also think a blanket amnesty, from time to time, sends a good message about our culture and our society, and given that we're not really considered the "good guys" in many corners of the third world, we could use the good PR just about now.

Just a question for those who oppose partial-birth abortion, but support an exeption for rape victims. Do you guys want to punish the mother for having sex or protect the unborn life of the baby?

Umm....it's rape. People aren't animals that are supposed to come into the world inconsequentially.

Abortion
Requiring parental notification for women under 18 seeking abortions: No
Requiring parental consent for women under 18 seeking abortions: NO
Banning interstate travel of women under 18 attempting to obtain abortions: NO
Requiring spousal notification for married women seeking abortions: No
Requiring spousal consent for married women seeking abortions: NO, I can't believe any actually support this.
Requiring a woman to have an ultrasound before obtaining an abortion: No
Requiring clinics to notify women of a hypothesis linking abortion with breast cancer: No
Banning the sale of metal coathangers: No
Prohibiting public funding of abortions: No
Reimbursing the cost of abortion under your favored health care system: yes
Banning dilation & extraction ("partial-birth abortion"): No
a.) Life of the mother exemption?
b.) Health of the mother exemption?
c.) Life of the fetus exemption?
d.) Health of the fetus exemption (i.e. birth defects)?
Banning late-term abortions: No
a.) Life of the mother exemption?
b.) Health of the mother exemption?
c.) Life of the fetus exemption?
d.) Health of the fetus exemption (i.e. birth defects)?
     e.) Rape exemption?
Legalizing the 'morning-after pill' (emergency contraception): Yes
     a.) Requiring a prescription? No
b.) Requiring parental consent for women under 18? No
Requiring abortion clinics to offer fetal anesthesia to women obtaining abortions: Yes. Abortions rights I think are about there not being a justifiable punishment for mothers who abort their own children pre birth (and also reducing unsafe abortions for low income people). If this procedure doesn't make some abortions impossible and therefore force women to go through with pregnancy I don't see the problem.

Mandatory waiting periods for women obtaining abortions: No
Mandatory pro-life counseling for women obtaining abortions: No
Funding for pro-life "crisis pregnancy centers": Yes but there should be funding for education for all aspects of abortion from different perspectives. They should be watched over for fact checking regularly though.

Adoption:
Allowing same-sex couples to adopt children: Yes
Allowing single parents to adopt children: Yes
Allowing bisexuals or homosexuals to serve as foster parents: Yes
Government reimbursement of all adoption fees: Yes

Affirmative Action:
Allowing affirmative action on the basis of race: Yes
Allowing affirmative action on the basis of socioeconomic status: Yes this should replace regular affirmative action eventually.
Banning affirmative action for all universities which receive public funding: No. Especially not universities(affirmative action can make more a difference there because exposure to diversity helps all students).

Criminals' Rights:
Capital punishment:
     a.) For treason? No
b.) For murder? Maybe...I'm torn on this issue. For now I will say: yes but if capital punishment was abolished I wouldn't be bothered.
     c.) For terrorism? No
     d.) For rape? No
     e.) For kidnapping? No
Requiring sex offenders to have special license plates: No
Requiring public notification of rehabilitated sex offenders living in communities: No.
Banning prisoners from voting: No
Banning ex-felons from voting: NO

Immigration:
Criminalizing tipping off Mexicans about the Minuteman Project: NO
Requiring hospitals providing medical care to illegal aliens to report them to the government: NO
Denying medical care to illegal aliens: NO
Applying civil liberties and anti-torture laws to non-immigrants: YES.
Guest worker program: No
Granting amnesty to illegal aliens: YES. The only issue of "fairness" to legal immigrants is that they were forced get the governments consent to migrate when they shouldn't have had to.
Building a fence/wall across the Mexican border: NO
Allowing illegal aliens access to social services, including public education: Yes, especially education
Including immigrants in your health care plan: Yes

I cannot believe people advocate public funds for abortion, it is elective surgery in 99% of the cases.  Pretty soon people will advocate BOTOX shots being covered

Not nearly as unbelievable as the fact that your homophobia is so intense that you'd deny orphans a happy home.

You wouldn't allow a late-term abortion if the mother would die without it, but you would allow it if the pregnancy happened to be caused by rape?
