Be careful, in the eyes of Sean Hannity if you don't think the USA is the greatest nation ever you are anti-American and work for Al-quida.

You can go to Britain and get that. You can go to Australia and get that. You can go to Canada and get that.

There should be no doubt that we are the greatest country on the face of the Earth.

True...but America isn't the strongest economy on the face of the Earth for no reason. Granted, our country is blessed with an abundance of natural resources, but I feel one of the reasons why America is the land of opportunity is that anyone with a dream or idea can turn that idea into reality. There are no barriers to success. The entrepreneurial spirit that is present in this country is like no other. Our freedoms are guaranteed by the Bill of Rights and a Constitution that has been a model of liberty for the whole world.

Akno, what is your favorite country? (if it isn't the USA)

It's just the largest of us rich and mighty countries...
Although "just" isn't quite the right word.

Right... Roll Eyes

Personally, I would put the UK before Britain. And my home country IS my home country, of course... Wink I love most Scandinavian countries actually.

The USA is my FAVORITE country, yes, but I am not convinced it is the greatest country. We have many poor people, many people without health care, if you compare our schools to Japans or many other countries, look out.

Well, it depends on what you mean by 'greatest'. There's lots of different scales we can judge that on. Personally, I do think in many respects we're the greatest. However, with greatness should come humility - nobody likes a braggart.

The US is the 'greatest', but in many ways is not very pleasant, and is not nearly as free as is often claimed.  Still its certainly by far the most powerful State, biggest economy, etc.

Umm.. Gustaf... the UK is Britan.

The United States is most definately the greatest nation in the world. However, being the greatest nation comes with corruption, and when we are constantly being threatened by enemies internally and externally,  one can only question how much longer this nation will be the greatest.

I'd say the US is the best.  There are many great nations that have embraced democratic values and have done great things in their history.  Britain comes to mind.  But there is no nation that has done so much in so little time as America, or has been so successful in so little time as America.

I'd say the Bill of Rights, Constitution and the Declaration alone put the US high in the running.  It's not perfect, but I'd say it's the best out there today, no real question in my head.

If America were gone, I'd probably move to either Australia, Malta, Poland, or Canada.

What would encourage you to move to Malta?

The US is undoubtedly the most powerful and richest nation on earth. Whether that makes it great is a different matter.
Obviously I'm biased in saying the UK, however you cannot deny our influence on the world has been quite extraordinary considering our tiny size and small population. Even our language is the most successful in the world. The thing I love most about the British however is our ability to laugh at ourselves, no other nation has such a fantastic sense of humour.

I'd say Australia has come further in 103 years then America has in 228, myself.

At the moment the U.S. is the greatest, but Spain is the greatest of all time, and is still a better place to live.
