Sadly, it looks like if HRC is not elected in 2008, it may be a while before a woman is elected President.

I'm thinking Kathleen Sebelius, who I hope runs with Brad Henry in either 2012 or 2016.  I don't think Hillary Clinton will win this time.  She may run again in 2012 as she's only in her late 50s or early 60s.  But, she will be used goods by then, same as John Edwards is this go-a-round.  That doesn't mean she can't win in 2012, as it has not been determined if John Edwards will win or lose.

Of course, I'll admit Kathy Sebelius could be just wishful thinking.

If it's not Clinton in 2008, then I think we might see a female VP before a female president.  I think we'll start seeing more female running mates pretty soon.  (And of course, once you're selected for VP, you'll likely end up running for president down the line.)  The Dems have built up a deep bench of female governors and senators who might be potential VPs.  The GOP doesn't have as deep a bench in that regard (there are fewer of them, and many, like Collins and Snowe, are so moderate that they'd cause rioting at the convention if named to the ticket), but they'll probably catch up to where the Dems are now within a decade or so.

Why do you have to say "saddly".  Wanting a woman in the White House just for the sake of having one is just as bad as not voting for someone because she is a woman.

HRC, and if she wins the nomination, I do intend to vote for her in the general election.

Why? She'd be as bad as Bush.

I would not vote for a woman simply because of gender. However, the circumstances that make it unlikely that we will have a woman President in the near future if Hillary is not elected in 2008 (e.g. sexism) are quite sad.

While I don't doubt there are people who would never vote for a woman, I do doubt that has anything to do with most people's rejection of Hillary.

HRC being a lesbian and a fascist are why she wouldn't be likely to win.

Why? She'd be as bad as Bush.

From what I have heard and seen, she has acquitted herself better than any of her competitors (particularly Barack Obama, sort of the black version of Jimmy Carter in '76 with his appeal laid on his inexperience in Washington -and we all know how that turned out...), and I am just more comfortable with the idea of having Hillary Clinton in the White House, and dealing with our eventual withdrawal out of Iraq, along with other repercussions wrought by the war there.
