Very interesting how compared to the 2004 presidential elections, there was a big urban-rural divide in the 2016 elections. In the cities, lower-income districts who voted the centre-left Fischer were less strongly in favor of green party candidate Van der Bellen than the conservative high income districts who favored Ferrero-Waldner in 2004. In the countryside, both "Red" and "Black" districts favored right-wing Norbert Hofer, although the "Black" ones favored him more strongly.
