I'd say New Hampshire.

Alaska has no income or sales taxes, but there is an estate tax (I believe).

Yet IL governments rely more on the local property taxes than just about anywhere with among the least statewide govenment support. In fact, IL schools are number 1 in the nation on the use of local funding sources and 49th on state involvement.

Alaska.

Are you still paid by the Alaskan government if you're a resident? Or am I just making that up?

It's called the Alaska Permanent Fund.

Write In:  Delaware

Why do you think so many corporations are incorporated in that state?  Taxes.

NH has no general sales or income tax, just property taxes.  In northern NH they even hate public PARKS.  Very libertarian.

Of course, WY and some of the western states are also quite good, Wyoming is regularly ranked #1 for favorable business taxation and regulation environment.  They also have no zoning laws in a lot of the West.

Delaware has income taxes for its citizens, just few/no sales and business taxes.

Why do you think so many corporations are incorporated in that state?  Taxes.

Large companies incorporate in Delaware because of the favorable business law rulings by the Court of Chancery.  Nevada has no corporate income tax, whereas Delaware has an 8.7% corporate income tax.

Nevada has no personal income tax either, but they do have a sales tax and they tax the casinos.

I say New Hampshire is the most economically conservative state, all things considered.
