Northeastern Region Legislation Standardization Act

1. The Northeast Regional Assembly finds that:
     a. The Northeast Region has been operating for a period of several years without active recording of the laws and regulations passed by the General Assembly.
     b. The Northeast Region is unable to adequately provide services to the public and keep its own fiscal house in order when it is unaware of what services it is required by law to provide.

2. Therefore, the Northeast Regional Assembly moves to:
     a. Hereby repeal all laws passed by the General Assembly prior to July 1, 2007.
     b. This act shall not be interpreted to invalidate any parts of the Northeast Region constitution, or any Amendments to said document passed prior to July 1, 2007.
     c. This act shall not be interpreted to invalidate any laws passed by its member states, counties, municipalities, or other political subdivisions prior to July 1, 2007.

This bill is totally unnecessary. All legislation passed is posted on the AFWiki. If this passes I am promising to use my executive power to veto this.

I am not willing to invalidate all legislation passed between then and now. Please if someone wants to take the responsibility to do this let me know.

The real question is, is the legislation valid (or its enforcement) when citizens do not have notice of it being in force?  (Since it may or may not be on the wiki)

Good luck in finding all the legislation not on the wiki... especially with the great thing called "search"

If Lt. Gov. Rockefeller can indeed make some satisfactory progress on this, I'll gladly withdraw my signature.

I had no problem with the search program when I used it to find the Northeast's earlier Lt Governors.

Just a reminder that Northeast citizens have two days left to propose or sign a piece of legislation, that will go on the October ballot. With the Election to take place the weekend of October 19-21.

To find what propositions will be on the ballot this weekend here's the link: October Northeast Props

Thanks for your time,

Rockefeller Republican
Lieutenant Governor of the Northeast

P.S. I will start updating Northeast legislation that has been passed from November 2005 to the present day tomorrow. So don't worry my fellow citizens, the Wiki will be updated.

Just to address an outstanding issue, I'm going to keep my signature on my Standardization Act, because I think it's still worth debating, but I'm leaning towards a "Nay" vote on it.

I wanted to point out that my abstain vote on the separation of church and state was more to do with concerns for faith based charities - rather than religious organisations themselves.

My vote against the Adoption Reform Bill was due to the fact that as written clause 1 applies to private adoptions.

My vote against the Adoption Reform Bill was due to the fact that as written clause 1 applies to private adoptions.

It that sense it is exactly the same as laws against discrimination in private employment.

My vote against the Adoption Reform Bill was due to the fact that as written clause 1 applies to private adoptions.

It that sense it is exactly the same as laws against discrimination in private employment.

Which I also oppose.  The exact same justification for such laws, that they serve the good of society, was also used to support laws that are pro-discrimination, such as the various Jim Crow laws or the Nuremburg Laws of Nazi Germany.  In contrast, I favor leaving such private decisions to the discretion of the private individuals who make them.

Quite a number of obnoxious bills were passed this month, of which the Health Insurance Option Restoration Act is to my eye the most obnoxious.  The whole system of employer provided health insurance that section 2 of the bill holds up as the gold standard of health care is based on the outmoded idea that like serfs of old, workers are bound to their workplaces for life. I have no objection to employers choosing to offer health insurance as a fringe benefit, but the idea that they should be required to do so imposes upon them a burden in HR management that they may well be ill-equipped to bear, especially in the case of small businesses.
