We are now voting on the following amendment:

I'll support this bill if it is made consistent with the new drinking age.  Motion to replace the text as follows:

"Persons under the age of 16 and over the age of 5 shall be allowed to consume alcohol under the supervision of a parent or guardian."

Please vote Aye, Nay or Abstain.

Nay.

With 6 votes in favor and 1 against, the amendment has passed.

Aye. Why wasn't this done as a friendly amendment anyways?

I wouldn't have approved.

Any more amendments?  Otherwise, a final vote will come shortly.

Considering 24 hours has passed without debate on the legislation, I would like to bring a motion to bring this legislation to final vote.

We are now voting on the following legislation:

Reform of the Alcohol Reform Act Bill

1. Section 4 of F.L. 14-10 is repealed and replaced with the following text:

"Persons under the age of 16 and over the age of 5 shall be allowed to consume alcohol under the supervision of a parent or guardian".

Please vote Aye, Nay or Abstain.

Aye.

Hmmm..  I typed Aye here, when I meant to type Nay.  Ugh.

You can still change your vote. Wink

Which is actually what I did (in odd terminology).

The vote on the legislation is 3 in favor, 2 against, 1 abstention and 4 not voting (Brandon H, Al, Rob and afleitch)

With Al having left the Senate, A Senator now has 72 hours to assume sponsorship of this legislation.  The Article 4, Section 1, Clause 8 is purposely unclear when this rule ends, even during a final vote, because the legislation may be vetoed.

Sponsorship will take effect until 20 hours from now or so.  Senators have until then to object to Lewis's taking over sponsorship.

The legislation has enough votes to pass.  Senators shall have 24 hours to change their votes.

Another bill to add to the "get rid of once Porce is dead" pile of legislation.
