Death Penalty Abolition Act

It is proposed that:

1. The Death Penalty be made illegal in Atlasia;
2. That all current Death-row inmates are commuted to life imprisonment;
3. That the government recognises the fundamental violation of human rights presented by the death penalty.

Whilst nobody contends that crimes such as those you list are terrible, is it not sinking to their level to kill them? Not only would life imprisonment be extremely harsh on the criminals-who ants to spend their life in hell?-It is also recognised by almost the whole western world and a large chunk of the rest as being both a more humane and also more punishing sentence.

One major reason why the people don't want others to have life in prison is because, we, the public have to PAY for them when they're in there. We DON'T want them to drain our money so they can have a hotel style life.

If anything make the prisons more like Turkey and then I'd like the bill.

You are prepared to kill someone just to save a few bucks?

I would support creating prisons that were about as uncomfortable as possible without vioolating human rights. The people in them, ex death-rowers, don't need TVs; they don't need education programmes, and they don't need internet access.

Maybe not the same as Turkey, but they don't have to be like hotels.

some states have life sentences that end before the people die. hat can be remedied if a senator was to propose an amendment.

Don, whilst usually I believe in moderation and concensus building, this one is going through on numbers.

When dealing with life, there is very little room for moderation.

I woukld also like to thank the grassroots support for this, and also those who opposed and allowed a full and fair debate, where the views of both sides were expressed well, effictively and fervently.

I urge the remaining senators to vote aye. This idea, if left to the regions, will lead to a patchy and incomplete picture. If we are actually attacked by terrorsits, which seems to be the major concern form the opposition, we would have to charge them on a nationwide level.

Please, support this so that our crime and justice system is not pattchy and inefficient, and so that it is harsh but humane.

A fiture that will not be granted to millions each year because thier lives are destroyed on a whim before they even have a chance.

Unless millions of people per year from murder in atlasia (or america), then this really isn't relevant. Unless millions of people die per year from murder in every country that has no DP combined, this isn't relevant.

If it is the case, we need to destroy guns, not humans.
