I think he expect you to have cards and he wants Sensei to wipe you out first and get them so that he can then kill Sensei. Not that anything matters much at this stage of the game.

As an inexperienced risk player, I'm very happy with my result. After a certain point, it became clear we were playing for runner-up to Fezzy, and I'm glad I got it, even though winning would have been better, of course.

Woohoo!!  And by the way, all you spazzes, it's called manipulation.  I had everyone in that game wrapped around my finger except for Lewis and Gustaf.  Chill out, sheesh.  You'd think people so obsessed with every move in the game would at least know the first thing about it...is it really surprising that I used negotiation to get what I wanted?  You couldn't figure that out?  And it's really insulting to the other players that you just assumed they were too stupid to attack me when I have one unit in Texas or whatever.  They knew what they were doing, too.  Sorry, but I've been bursting since like, page 6 or something.  I really liked most of the commentary but a lot of it was just obnoxious and inconsiderate, particularly the posts with explicit plans of where, when, and how to attack me and the ones belittling other players for not following that exact advice.  Thanks Joe for a great game, and also thanks to HappyWarrior, Gustaf, Lewis, Josh, and Sensei for a lot of fun!

Fezzy, I don't think anyone had anything against your game play. I got stuck with unmanipulatiable Lewis, but otherwise I would have done the same. Where you're wrong is in saying that the others knew what they were doing...when an alliance benefits only one part the other should withdraw, that's all.

No, I'm not wrong.  You don't know what went on and what the agreements were.  They all made perfect sense for both sides.  They know how to play the game and played it well.  Just not as well as I did.  Just because I know how to get people to do what I want them to do doesn't mean they're bad players, it just means I'm that good.

Well, I can understand your reasons for believing in that. Wink

I've seen how the game turned out and what the relative positions of the players were round after round. No clear advantages ever materialized for them. In fact, part of the reason while I never thought about an alliance is that I never really noted you doing anything you wouldn't have done without a pact. But I should note that I'm sorry for those of my comments that were over the line. I was trying to help out Lewis whom I thought was being handed a worse deal than deserved thanks to the playing of others. But in the end you certainly deserved the win, especially if you actually managed to talk the others into paving the way for you. But I don't see why you're not taking the full credit as a Machiavelli - trying to set the stage for a repeat performance, perhaps? Cheesy

No offense to any of the players, but when one single player goes completely unopposed for basically the entirety of a game, it is a factual inaccuracy to say that the other players knew what they were doing. Tongue

Of course there were pacts there. I thought that was obvious. It's also obvious that it was an error to have pacts with you.
Sensei even got something out of them, arguably - second place. (Although even that was close.) Josh finally did what he should have done rounds earlier, but though it was by no means too little it was certainly too late. Especially without Sensei's support. Happy Warrior... (shakes head) Oh well. Happens when you play for the first time I suppose.

Oh well. I enjoyed it anyways. Smiley

One more thing I'd like to add... the only reason why I went to Delaware was because the west seemed so crowded and Gustaf seemed too left alone in the Northeast. If I'd guessed at Happy Warrior's playing prowess, I'd have gone west myself.
