It's official.  The Iowa Democrats have scheduled their caucus for Jan. 3rd, the same day as the GOP caucus in the state:

http://desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071028/NEWS/71028007/1001/BUSINESS03

Jan. 3 IA caucus (both parties*)
Jan. 15 MI primary (both parties, but Dem. contest won't count)
Jan. 19 SC primary (GOP only), NV caucus (both parties)
Jan. 26 SC primary (Dems only*)
Jan. 29 FL primary (both parties, but Dem contest won't count)
Feb. 5 Super Tuesday

NH primary?Huh  This is the only piece of the schedule left open, but everyone expects that they'll schedule it for Jan. 8th.

* The IA caucus and SC primary dates are earlier than the DNC rules allow (and the NH primary would be too, assuming they go on Jan. 8th), but it's unclear whether the DNC will penalize them for this.

Christmas with the candidates!

I would think January 12th would be a logical date for NH to pick as well.

NH law requires them to go at least 7 days before "any similar contest", and so NH SoS has promised that, with MI going on Jan. 15, the *earliest* possible date for the NH primary would be Jan. 8th.  They could go even earlier than that, but no one expects them to do so.

Oops, you're right - for a second there I thought that it was 7 days after any previous contest.

Good news for sanity...this eliminates any remaining possibility that the NH SoS might go crazy and put the primary in December.

January 8th for NH is almost guaranteed.

As for SC moving up...I think the SC Dems have been really friendly & careful about asking for the move, and it's only 3 days.  So I doubt they'll be penalized.  It's possible that they'll penalize IA/NH, but they A) might not want to piss them off and B) probably recognize that the only reason they moved significantly up is due to Michigan being a jerk.

I know the voters in all the states (minus MI and FL Dems) will be happier when the primary schedule is set, not to be moved again.  This would allow them to go ahead and schedule that time off work if they need to.

Not exactly true in the case of NH.  The DNC rules said that NV could go no earlier than Jan. 19th and NH could go no earlier than Jan. 22nd.  From the moment that rule was approved, NH officials have consistently said that they don't care what the DNC rules say, they're going before NV (and every other state except IA).  This was part of the rationale offered by MI Dems when they approved their Jan. 15th primary.  They said "NH is ignoring the party rules, so why shouldn't we?"  Carl Levin has sent a letter to Howard Dean asking why MI has been punished, while NH hasn't, even though NH announced long ago that they're ignoring the primary scheduling rules.  Dean hasn't responded yet.
