Oh man. Check it out here: www.xe.com

This is probably the main reason for the rising gas prices than anything dealing with oil, but man it's pissing me off. You can bet European and Canadian ebayers are loving it though.

This also no doubt sucks hard for opebo. The dollar is now at just under 32 baht. I believe it was well over 40 and around 45 awhile back.

The most worrying part is that, the weaker the dollar, the more likely it is that Saudi Arabia will stop pegging to the dollar and switch its peg to something else (probably the euro), which would mean the end of oil sales in dollars and a much larger plunge in dollar values. Saudi Arabia has already taken the first step towards unpegging by not mirroring the most recent interest rate cut.

I go to Canada every year, and the trip is getting 10% more expensive than prior years.

I was tellling a friend a month or so ago about this. I'd had a meeting with my bank saying if I could somehow take my savings account and have it expressed in euros or pounds. They told me no. I was then telling him about the value of the dollar declining, how it was a big change, and told him of a bit I once saw in the movie Canadian Bacon. John Candy's character gets pulled over by a Canadian policeman (Dan Aykroyd). Aykroyd fines Candy for not having the anti-Canadian grafitti on the side of his truck in both English and French. The fine is something like 15,000 Canadian dollars. Which Aykroyd then says: "In American money, about ten bucks."

Now it's $1.10 for one loonie. How times change.

It was at 38 baht last October.

And this is the biggest problem to worry about right now, especially if the people that matter start/continue switching their money into gold/euros/pounds/etc.

The Canadian Dollar is the worlds most improved currency right now. It's pretty huge news up here.

Its not good for me, but the weird thing is I make a good portion of my income in baht now that I'm working.  Also living upcountry has greatly reduced my expenditures.

But yes, it is disturbing that the bad policies of the Republicans have led to this massive impoverishment of the american people.
