The most worrying part is that, the weaker the dollar, the more likely it is that Saudi Arabia will stop pegging to the dollar and switch its peg to something else (probably the euro), which would mean the end of oil sales in dollars and a much larger plunge in dollar values. Saudi Arabia has already taken the first step towards unpegging by not mirroring the most recent interest rate cut.

Despite the decline of the dollar, gold has been losing value against the dollar. It dropped a whole $2.30/ounce just today.
