Think of it as an incentive to vote. That's where you really determine who represents you. (Personally, I have no problem with doing it either way, but the backlog of determining who is registered where and when they last voted would be immense.)
My two year old was in the hospital i had better things to do that weekend.

Is he/she ok?  What happened?

We just came a handful of votes to getting rid of the redistricting process all together.

Note that Inks was one of the stubborn ones who voted to keep this arcane redistricting institution.
Note that TexasGurl was another one. (No insult intended to either of you, mind.)

Note that the failure of that Amendment is one of the greatest Atlasian moments in history in my mind.
