Apparently Clinton didn't make any mistakes in debates.

Apparently neither did Obama.

Obama has to be better in these things - the excuse given "he doesn't like them" isn't good enough.

No he doesn't. He did fine and he is winning the elections. So what would be the point?

Yes he does. His debate performances have been rather disappointing so far - but these don't make a difference very often in Primaries. The performances in the general election debates DO MATTER. He needs to be quicker, and not quite so boring.

I guess this is why George Bush lost?

If you're talking about 2000 - let's remember the expectations game. Bush only had to speak in clear sentences to have won in 2000. In 2004 Bush imploded, he lost 1st and 2nd debates - but pulled himself together for the 3rd one. I was only after those debates that Kerry was really in the ball-game.

Obama is not beyond criticism - if he's the nominee I want him to win, and I think just resting on his laurels when it comes to debates is not good enough. Especially if he's against McCain - he needs to flatten him in debates.

The first debate, Bush looked pathetic. He was tired, cranky, irritated, and Kerry looked smooth, calm, and presidential.

The second debate was a draw to slight win for Kerry, and Bush won the third town hall style meeting, which was more his strength. But it was those debates that brought Kerry into the game. Prior to the first debate, Bush would've won handily.

Honestly, you've become almost Eraserhead like in your hackishness the past few days. She said that there were times that she made mistakes, she just didn't bring them up. Your boy just did the same thing.
*clears throat*

ugh, come on obama, answer the question

That wasn't posted when I posted. But the point stands, Obama and Hillary did the same thing.

I thought her answer was terrible.  As I just said, I also thought Obama's answer was terrible.  They both totally ignored the question.  And I think Edwards won the debate.

I'm failing to see where the hackishness comes in here.

Don't play dumb. Sam called you out on it earlier. You basically take what someone says and so distort it so you can than make your point against it. I believe Fred Thompson did the same thing tonight and got called out on it.

What are you talking about?  I posted my comment on Hillary before my feed even had Obama answer the question.  Then when Obama did the same thing, I posted about it.

I promise I'm not covering up my position in a big Obama conspiracy.

1st, I have no idea what this means. 2nd, Hillary actually did say she made mistakes, the same as Obama did. You said she didn't make mistakes.

She never addressed anything specific, at least I don't recall her saying anything.  Neither did Obama.  Richardson and Edwards both specifically pointed out an answer that they had regretted, and I respected that.  Clinton and Obama both failed to do so, as far as I could tell.  If they did actually point something out, I missed it.

Not:

Apparently Hillary's not going to share any mistakes she made.

The first statement was false based on what she said. The second statement would've been true.

So is NH like a regular election i.e., we will get 9:00ish results and exit polling?

Unfortunately, I had to go and eat, but the key thing to watch (which I don't know if anyone is doing) is the WMUR after-reaction to the debate.  That could shape things.

Overall, I thought Edwards won the debate, but not by much.  Obama played like the frontrunner, which quite frankly I don't think he should do.  His performance wasn't great.  I can't tell whether the Hillary anger will hurt her or not.  May depend on how much it's played.

We've been thinking that this is a change vs. experience race (change being Obama, experience being Clinton)... but I'm starting to think that the question of whether we want change is over. In which case it would become Obama vs. Edwards.

Why settle for 28 years of Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton when you can make it 36?

I have to say that, especially on the Republican side, this debate was a trillion times better than all the past one's combined.  Even Paul seemed relevant.

I also should say that Huckabee impressed me.  I'm now only leading towards "no, I would not vote for him" instead of "Hell, no...."

The best part was the gang rape of Romney though.

I never knew that Edwards co-wrote the Patients Bill of Rights. He should talk about that more often.

It's always good to talk about you failure to pass your signature initiative.
