So, the polls were once again 15 points off.

Luckily, they were 15 points wrong in the other direction. Grin

I don't take a whole lot of stock in primary polls.  They are generally off somewhat to the favor or to the detriment of a particular candidate.  General election polls are generally more accurate.

That speech effectively turned my mom from a Hillary backer to Obama supporter. Take one away from Clinton's core constituency.

I was disappointed, and kind of shocked, that CNN cut Hillary Clinton off in the middle of her speech.  Thats unlike them.  I know they had to go to a break, but still.

Alas, Michigan already voted.

It wasn't a good speech anyway. Her "singing" joke had crickets chirping.

I know...but at least she won't be giving any more money to her.

Maybe if she gave an actual concession speech...

Here's what I know. I know that when people say we can't overcome all the big money and influence in Washington, I think of that elderly woman who sent me a contribution the other day, an envelope that had a money order for three dollars and one cent along with a verse of scripture tucked inside the envelope. So don't tell us change isn't possible. That woman knows change is possible.

I liked the Strom Thurmond woman better.  who knows if any of these people actually exist.

MSNBC just said that the New York Times headline will read that Obama won South Carolina with "a combination of black and white support".

I like that headline.

Going into tonight, Clinton already had 2 delegates and Obama 1 from South Carolina.  Here are the delegate distribution as of 9:05 pm CST.

Barack Obama -- 26 (25 from tonight)
Hillary Clinton -- 13 (11 from tonight)
John Edwards -- 5 (5 from tonight)

Here is the "leaderboard" as it stands right now:

Hillary Clinton -- 229 delegates
Barack Obama -- 152 delegates
John Edwards -- 58 delegates

Now, there are 44 delegates used up in SC, which leaves 10 more delegates to go somewhere.

48% in SC think Obama would beat a republican in November...to Clintons 36% and Edwards 15%.

Oh, I'm sure they exist.  Or, at least I'm taking them at their word, which is dangerous.

That is who they think would be "best" at beating the Republican.

Right. What else tho, some 70% would be satisfied if Hillary Clinton eventually won the nomination. Hum?

Incidentally, the one county Edwards won, Oconee, is where he was born, so he probably had some hometown boy effect there to put him on top.

Incidentally...

Richardson placed 4th, with 727 votes in the entire state.
Biden was 5th and Kucinich 6th.

Chris Dodd appears to have, in the final precincts, pulled ahead of Mike Gravel for 7th place 247-241.

If there was any doubt that Mike Gravel was a joke, I think it's over now.

Now THAT was a speech!

Arguably the best political speech I have heard since "I have my dream."

It was a very good speech made by Obama, far better than his exceptional speech he made after his victory in Iowa. I thought that Obama would have atleast got 40% of the vote and won, I didn't expect Obama to get 55% and double both of his opponents. Oh What a Night Smiley.

He came off as completely sincere, inclusive, and, yes, non ideological.

I agree that was an excellent speech by Barack Obama.  I concur that it was his best one, yet.

We may actually have a good speaker in the White House.  Bush is not that great of a speaker, in fact, he's pretty deffecient in that quality.
