What he should have said is, that he appreciates the efforts of the Governor of Cuba (United States branch).  Wink

I wasn't aware that McCain still had his mind.

Quite. Hillary Clinton is yesterday's woman just as McCain is yesterday's man.

Hillary, of course, still has a lot more life in her. McCain looks old and tired. I fear for his health if elected

Florida Governor Charlie Crist endorsed McCain the night of the Democratic South Carolina primary.

When McCain spoke after Crist gave him his endorsement, McCain said the following about Crist

"Charlie Crist is known throughout the nation and througout the world as one of the great leaders of the twenty first century."

What?

One of the great leaders of the twenty first century?

Are you kidding me?

Crist was elected Governor in 2006.  Outside Florida, most Americans have never even heard of him, let alone internationally.

What is McCain talking about?

Has McCain lost his mind?

Wow.

and I thought I loathed McCain.  Smiley

I gotta admit, you really deserve the I Hate John prize more than I, so I'll drop out of the race now and let you and Carl Hayden duke it out for that one.  But I'll endorse you, and you can have my delegates, because I'm convinced that you really despise him just a tad more than Carl.

Hold on here, just a minute.

Let me be clear, I do not hate John McCain.  I do not hate anyone.

Hate is a very strong word, and hatred has no place in society.

I actually quite like McCain, not everything about him, but I quite like him.

If Romney were to drop out of the Presidential race, or if McCain wins the Republican Presidential nomination, I will gladly and wholeheartedly support John McCain for President of the United States.

And Governor Charlie Crist may actually make a very attractive and very credible running mate for McCain.

Yes.

"I hate the gooks.  I will hate the gooks as long as I live." -- John McCain, 2000

It's easy to be forgiving when you haven't been tortured for 5 years. And he did push through normalization of relations with Vietnam.

Apart from Winfield providing more entertainment to us all I really think the age thing is getting a bit...old. There has been many great politicians of high age and there are few actual signs of McCain being "too old". Bush was pretty young and energetic, jogging a lot and all, but that didn't help much.

All politicians praise in excess when they get endorsements. I don't think there is any politician who has been consistent in that departement. "[insert state] is one of the states closest to my heart" and so on.
