Regardless of who you support, which of the candidates is the best speaker/orator?

My personal pick for best speaker, Obama, followed by Romney.

Some of Obama's speeches I have found quite inspiring.

Obama by far. Sometimes it seems like everything he says is a rehash of the '04 DNC, though.

Obama.

Though I would have said Ronald Reagan if he was on the list Tongue.

Judging by the way everyone talks about him I thought he was running, no?

Even if you don't support the man, I don't see how anyone can not pick Obama.

Obama, though Edwards, Huckabee and Romney all get honorable mention.

There are several good speakers listed, not surprising considering all the practice they get.  Presumably the point of this is to narrow in on orator, specifically who most can inspire or something of that sort.

In that case, Obama winning here makes sense.  But his message and campaign are based on being inspirational.  There is a lot of correlation between how good of a speaker one is and what they are talking about.  When dealing with what really drives one, they will likely speak much better.  Plus the listeners' feelings for the topic matters.

Would I want Obama giving a wonkish policy speech?  No, I likely would take Clinton or maybe Romney.  Edwards and Huckabee clearly have skills also.  But Edwards railing for workers against evil big companies or Romney talking tax cuts, even if just as well done, will surely not inspire or move like Obama talking about national unity.

I would tend to agree that while she falls far short on the inspiration scale, I find Clinton more impressive and specific when laying out policy detail.  She connects with voters more on a logical level as opposed to an emotional one and has an ability to clarify how specific policy proposals will solve problems.  That is an important skill.

Obama no doubt.

Huckabee is the best speaker on the Republican side, he seems authentic when he speaks.

Easily Obama. A more interesting question would be who is the best on the GOP side. I think it's Huckabee. He's quite charming, which is an unusual characterisitc in the Republican Party.

Obama is the best by far. Huckabee is the best on the Republican side.

Obama, without question. Edwards is also a very good speaker, so good that he could have won the nomination had Obama held out until 2012. The white, southern version of Obama never really had a chance this time around.

I'm not a fan of Romney's speaking ability.  He's no Ronald Reagan, or even an RFK.  It sounds too canned and not enough passion.

Obama.

At 86%, Obama is doing better than a bowl of lime Jello against Opebo.

Obama (Normal)

Hillary is a good speaker of substance and policy after you can get past her shrill voice. However, I feel like I'm getting talked at by her instead of being talked to.
