And Nixon wasn't exactly unpopular most of the time.

I love Nixon...but he definitley did himself in. Why the hell did he keep a recording device in the Oval Office!? Why did he knowing allow and keep knowledge of the break-in? Had Watergate never occured...Nixon would have been one of the greats. Instead, he is just "above average".

Perhaps McCain is being underhand I don't know but I'm in no rush to leap to Mitt 'Latter Day Conservative' Romney's defense

What I will say is that the fact that Republicans passed over McCain in favor of he was who was never going to amount to very much back in 2000 nominating him now smacks of desparation with McCain being their only hope to win in November

Too little, too late. Bush has destroyed American prestige and I see a Democrat best placed to restore it

McCain should be approaching the end of his presidency, not potentially beginning it
