I think God created the universe and is an active force in it.

I believe he created the universe (scientifically accepted 'Big Bang' concept etc) but has not had an active force in it.

Well, science has pretty much blown Christian creationism in the Genesis sense out of the water. Now, if there is a creator god or gods then I would say they probably don't take an active role in the universe.

I've always wondered why some people have a theological problem with evolution. I can accept that God created the universe and everything in it they way science tells us it was created - out of nothing. The anti-evolution aspect has puzzled me. Truthfully I think the 'beef' really isn't about 'God's place' in all that, but our place.

We humans think we are amazing. Ancient civilisations thought they were the centre of the world and everyone else was peripheral. We thought we were at the centre of the universe and the stars revolved around us. We thought we came to be through fully formed creation by a higher being and there was nothing before us because we are that exclusive. That's the egotism of mankind in action. In reality we are just another being, a recent arrival on an insignificant planet revolving around an average sun. We might not be exclusive, but we are special. I would prefer if theists concentrated on where we are a people are going rather than take issue with where we came from.

My thoughts on Creationism?

That the idea that the world is only six thousand years ago has been so thoroughly debunked and refuted that it is not even worth seriously considering.

I believe that there is 1 God who created everything, and that the scientific facts are merely God's method of establishing the world.

I believe in intelligent design... God is intelligent and he designed the Universe... using methods that sceince is just now discovering over the last couple hundred years.

Only Young Earth creationism. The Bible never specifies what kind of method God used. And in fact, many scientists end up becoming creationist.

No, not many... some, in fact, few. Like the lunatic who believes the Grand Canyon is evidence for the Noah flood... when anyone who knows anything about water erosion knows that sudden flash floods DO NOT create curves or loops (as the Colorado does in the GC). If the GC were the result of a flood, it would be in an almost straight line.

I believe in the possibility of a creator-based big bang, but a proactive god is something I doubt.

Yes. There was a creationist/scientist on the Daily Show once who defended intelligent design and creationism and that his views had changed. When asked if his views had changed after he became a born again Christian he said yes. That, in a nutshell is how some scientists become creationists.

Certainly Intellegent design makes more sense than the stupid "something came out of nothing" idea the atheists use.

Some people need it to make sense. It doesn't bother me.

I think "Who are you" is one of the primal questions of sentient lifeforms.  The others are "Why are you hear," and "What do you want."

I think that God made the Universe, but I don't care how. God knows too much about everything to explain to Moses as he was writing the Torah that Days=Years, and the Scientific areas of life, and why the Precambrian Era is important etc, so I rely on Science.
