My opinion of feminists has dropped considerably since the start of the primary process.

Come on, not every feminist is as bad as the NY NOW. If the NY NOW were Republican plants trying to make them look bad, they'd probably still be more reasonable.

The feminists of today are more detrimental to their cause than beneficial. It's sort of sad.

Um, yeah, caucuses disenfranchise women so much that the Iowa Democratic caucus was 57% female.

What the f**k are they talking about?

You know, if there's one good thing the Bill Clinton administration did - it was killing the feminist movement forever.  The passive-aggressive woman-hating is quite amusing, and the way it should be, frankly.

Otherwise, grow up.

Don't you know that Washington hates women? They would never elect one to a statewide office, so of course they weren't going to vote for a woman in a primary.

If you vote against Hillary Clinton, you hate women.

speaking of which, has anyone read this letter by Robin Morgan being cirulated by the Clinton Campaign through Chelsea Clinton, http://www.womensmediacenter.com/ex/020108.html ? It's a shrill 60s-style radical feminist screed which, if you're a man, probably reminds you why you can't stand Hillary Clinton and which speaks volumes about how badly the feminist movement has lost its way.

I think caucuses suck, but that's because they're convoluted and undemocratic, not because they shut out my candidate.

For perhaps completely different reasons, caucuses do suck and need to be abolished.  If nothing else, peer pressure is too strong.

I strongly favour a secret ballot for just about all votes of a potentially contentious nature (which would include selecting party political candidates), where feasible. I understand that different states organise their caucuses differently, and I don't really know which (if any) allow for secret balloting - but if they dom, then I'd probably be okay with them.

However, this comes with the obvious proviso that any and all systems which don't produce Mike Gravel as the Democratic nominee should be abandoned. Smiley

I hope you're wrong, as an Obama supporter.. but you're right... we'll never hear the end of it if he loses.

I'm not a Hillary supporter, but caucuses are really long, stupid, and inconvenient. I'd much rather show up at my convenience, vote, and be home in 5 minutes.

Good. Women shouldn't be allowed to participate.

Actually, caucuses do "suck."

Primaries and *actual elections* make much better sense for the sake of democracy.  That said, for most of the caucus states that went for Obama, even had they held primaries instead, I still think they would've gone in his favor.  My feelings on why caucuses are, more or less, stupid have nothing to do with how much I dislike Barack Obama.  Just that little disclaimer there, since I'm sure all the Obama lovers out there will, once again, shout me down as just being angry he's winning.

I am an Obama supporter, but I think caucuses suck as well.  Ultimately they make it harder to vote, which tends to be a bad thing.  The counter argument, of course, is that those who really are motivated DO show up, but it leaves out too many who can't commit to that time period.  I would prefer we make voting easier not harder.

This Obama voter thinks caucuses are one of the most idiotic possible ways to choose a Presidential nominee ever.  Primaries are far better mechanisms.

Chapter 29A.56 of the Revised Code of Washington states:

The…presidential nominating caucus system in Washington State is unnecessarily
restrictive of voter participation in that it discriminates against the elderly, the infirm,
women, the disabled, evening workers, and others who are unable to attend caucuses and
therefore unable to fully participate in this most important quadrennial event that occurs in
our democratic system of government.
